The Full Story
Hello! Thanks for visiting! We are Mike and Autumn, the founders of 'Up North.' We both visited Belize over 15 years ago and fell in love with the people, the food, the water and the culture. We decided to come back, to Ambergris Caye, four years ago for a short trip. The trip lead to new friendships and a new vision for our lives. We traveled the country extensively and we decided to call Ambergris Caye our second home. As we spent more time on the island enjoying the water activities and all the great reastaurants and bars on the island, we realized we wanted to create a place for 'fun' where people could come together and 'play' on the island. The vision of 'Up North' was born. We now consider Belize our primary home and where we spend most of our time. This project would of never been brought to fruition without the amazing work of our Belizean partners.

I’m Daniel Vasquez — proud island native and current owner and operator of Up North. Growing up surrounded by the sea, the people, and the easy rhythm of island life taught me what truly matters — connection, community, and good times shared together.

Up North carries that same spirit. It’s more than just a place to grab a drink or play a game — it’s a space where locals and visitors come together to unwind, laugh, and create memories that feel like home.

This island raised me, and everything we do here is about giving back — supporting local talent, celebrating our roots, and keeping the heart of San Pedro alive for generations to come.
